Virtual Reality (VR) is “the computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional image or environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way by a person using special electronic equipment, such as a helmet with a screen inside or gloves fitted with sensors.” When VR goes well, it’s pretty amazing.
Take, for example, last Christmas, Coca Cola created a virtual reality sleigh ride. Using the Oculus Rift VR headset, thousands of people all over Poland were immersed in this virtual world and got to be Santa Claus for a day, flying over the country and into different villages. I mean, really, who wouldn’t want to be St. Nick?
But when VR goes bad, it can go really bad. You’re fully immersed in the virtual world, so when you’re climbing steep, slanted rocks or the roller coaster ride you’re on starts to speed up and drops, things can get a little…sticky.
