Wave7 Optics said its fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) platform now supports RF return from the top two digital set-top boxes used by North American cable operators.
The company said its “Last Mile Gateway” customer-side device is now compatible with Motorola Broadband set-tops that use the SCTE 55-1 standard, and Scientific-Atlanta set-tops that use the SCTE 55-2 interface.
Some telcos, including Verizon, plan to offer video services over their FTTP networks initially via an RF overlay.
Wave7’s platform is also designed to work with IP-based video services and set-tops.
