Printable sensors have emerged as a new classification for sensing technologies. With its Quantum Tunneling Composite (QTC®) technology, Peratech has a screen printable polymer-based ink in opaque and transparent versions for sensing force/touch. The electrical resistance of a QTC sensor changes based on changes in applied force – more force reduces the resistance. Quantum tunneling adds a level of control, reliability, and range to touch sensing.
To determine how this approach could fit into an application, Peratech has a Touch Development kit. In addition to a collection of applications that demonstrate the performance of the pressure sensitive solutions, the kit includes:
- 20 single-point sensors: 10 x SP200-5, 10 x SP200-10
- 7” matrix sensor
- Arduino 2 – 4-wire sensor driver
- TPU® matrix sensor driver
- Access to MT Suite development software
- Installation and instruction guide
