The typical Local Interconnect Network (LIN) node has a limited set of functions such as monitoring mechanical switches or touch buttons on a steering wheel and sending the information to the connected LIN master. For tasks which involve only low amounts of computing like these, the driving factors are mainly low cost and size constraints. In response to the need to develop LIN nodes with increasing complexity while maintaining or even reducing the available space, Microchip has developed a new family of System in Package (SiPs) devices, the SAMHA family.
